Go from unsure
to confidently playing with others
– in 12 weeks.
A new path for musicians who want to play music with others, in a safe and supportive community.
You’ve learned some chords.
Maybe you’re practicing songs on your own.
You might have even showed off a tune for a family member or friend.
But when it comes to joining in the music, when other musicians are playing, you shudder.
“How do I know what to play?”
“What are the chords?”
“I’m lost!”
“What if I sound bad or ruin the jam?”
“I’m afraid of being judged.”
“I’m not ready yet.”
“Everyone here is so much better than me.”
Musicians come into my studio with all of these fears and doubts and more. While I’ve been lucky to grow up in jam-friendly spaces, I’ve also felt most, if not all of these.
For the last 14 years, I’ve helped hundreds of musicians get past their doubts and lack of experience, and equip them with the tools necessary to play music with others, confidently. To me, playing music together is what music is all about – having that connection, shared joy, and something that unites us across language, culture, belief systems, political identity, and taps into that innate joy that music brings.
This journey is your invitation to step fully into the joy and confidence of playing music with others – whether that’s with friends, family, a jam circle, or a local band. By the end, you won’t just be playing – you’ll be connecting, expressing, and belonging.

What This Is
This is a 12-week transformational program designed for adult musicians who are ready to:
- Learn how music works in real time, with real people.
- Build confidence in playing alongside others, even without reading music or having to tuck your nose in chord charts.
- Develop your ear, rhythm, musical intuition, and creative voice.
- Deepen technical proficiency in areas that are essential to playing music with others
- Start showing up to musical spaces and knowing how to play along and add your own voice, even if you don’t know the songs yet!
It’s not about achieving perfection.
It’s not about endless theory and drills.
It’s about allowing your inner-musician to come out and connect with others, bring joy, and to sound good and enjoy doing it.
It’s about being ready to play music with other people!

Who This Is For
This is for you if:
- You know how to play a few chords, simple melodies, or rhythms but haven’t had a lot of (or any) experience playing with others.
- You long to connect with others musically – with friends, family, a jam group, or a band, but you don’t quite know how.
- You’ve been playing solo and want to take the next step into shared music-making.
- You feel somewhat confident playing music with others but want to deepen your confidence and abilities in a group setting or playing something new.
- You want to overcome the fear, the doubt, and the “am I good enough?” negative feedback loops.
- You feel the music running through your veins and you are called to make it a bigger part of your life
You do not need advanced chops. You do not need to be able to solo yet or read music. You just need the desire to connect and the willingness to take the next step.

What You’ll Learn – The Journey from Hesitant to Confident Jammer
This course is designed to help you transform from a solo musician, playing alone, or otherwise feeling shaky about jamming, to playing confidently and joyously with others.
Together, we will move through a guided 12 week journey that starts where you are and walks you, step by step, toward confidence, musical connection, and joyful collaboration.
Throughout the course, students will have the opportunity to participate in field trips at different jams happening in the area, either as a player or observer, to get more comfortable jamming in common
You’ll walk away from this course not just having “learned” something – but having practiced it, lived it, and felt it in your body.
You’ll be ready to show up, listen, respond, and join the music — whether it’s with family, friends, or total strangers.

David is a really amazing teacher and my guitar playing has improved so much since I started working with him. One of the main things he’s helped me with is ear training and being able to figure out songs without tabs or looking up chords, which has been super fun to work on and surprisingly easy when he teaches it. He lets you choose what songs or techniques you want to work on and then go from there so every lesson is different and you learn something new. He also teaches music theory but in a really relaxed and applicable way through the songs you’re playing so it’s not overwhelming and actually makes sense.

He makes learning fun and makes me feel comfortable playing in front of him. I have never taken banjo lessons before and thought I might be making a mistake. He has given me a new hobby that I have learned to love. I never thought I would get this far and it has only been 7 months. I highly recommend him.

I have been notoriously nervous of the process of learning a string instrument, and how to jam with others, until David came into my life. Before I knew it, like in five minutes, I was playing the ukulele with him on the piano, I was jamming! This was so gratifying for me. He created a safe and playful atmosphere for me to come out of my musical shell and have fun, take risks, and learn something new. Playing and learning from him allowed me to bring out my flute. This was a big deal for me because in the past my classical flute was very structured and formal. With David, I was gifted the freedom to throw the formality out the window and jam, get funky with it. And boy did that feel good! The anxiety of trying to get every note or rhythm correct was replaced with the joy of a positive learning experience. David not only successfully helps a person learn how to play musical instruments but inspires a body to create one’s own music. This I find to be a rare and crucial element in a teacher. David is an amazing teacher. He connects the heart and the brain, settling the body, giving an example of freedom to play.
